I'm dealing with an infected kitten and from what I've read they need to be dipped in lime sulfur once a week for six weeks, they need to be shampooed with antifungal shampoo between dips, and they need treatment 2 weeks after the physical signs are gone. From all the info I've gathered spot treatment and oral meds won't eradicate it without the dips. I would also recommend getting the special light they have for detection so you know where it is and so you can concentrate on cleaning those areas and your not wasting time cleaning areas that aren't hot spots. It also might be worth it to have a cleaning service come in or rent a steam cleaner to clean any carpeting you have. Good luck, it's a lot of work, but eventually it'll pay off.

I'm thinking I need to rehome my cat. Cowboy is an almost 3 year old domestic mediumhair rescue who came from a hoarding home originally with many other cats. He was the only one who was able to be put up for adoption before the rest because of how sweet, outgoing, and affectionate he is. When I adopted him, on September 6th 2023, he had an upper respiratory infection and ear infections in both ears. While I knew he would have vet expenses at the start, nothing could've prepared me for him needing an expensive surgery (it happend on May 9th, it was well into the thousands) to treat his middle ears after the vet found lots of debris and polyps in them. The humane society I adopted him from never checked or was committed to resolving this before I got him...otherwise it might have been a different story for Cowboy and I. It cost me a LOT, and it was mostly all out of pocket with the rest coming from GoFundMe and one organization that was able to donate some. But as an already usually broke college student, and after so many monts paying for medication and expensive vet visits, I really pretty much had nothing now. Unfortunately now it was discovered at one of the latest vet visits that he has a chronic allergy, as his ears even over a month after his surgery are experiecing itchiness and inflammation again. While the medication he will have to use for lifelong management isn't expensive, it is the addition of finding out he is now struggling with Giardia as well that has been hard. After 10 months of owning him and trying to keep up with medical expenses for this sweet boy, I have realized that I cannot afford to support him in the way he needs during this time of my life. i still feel so sad though. What do i do?

It won't help keep flies away, but if you can find Fool-A-Bug bowls, they can be good at keeping ants out of food. If you can't, you can put a shallow dish of water under a food bowl and that should help, too.

It feels hopeless because with this many animals, I don’t feel like I am ever going to get every nook and cranny of my house sanitized. It seriously feels hopeless. Plus I just had surgery and am not allowed to do physical activity right now. So it’s even worse. Thank you for the video. It helps to know I am not alone. Although to hear you’ve been dealing with this for almost 2-years is quite discouraging.

We are struggling with this right now. Have 5 indoor cats and 4 indoor dogs. I’ve now had it as well. This is killing me. I am at my wits end.

TNR is animal abuse, and not just against the BILLIONS of animals ferals kill every year. TNR kills wildlife, kills cats and spreads disease. TNR benefits no person and no animals of any kind anywhere. All it does is feed outdoor hoaders' addictions to fweeding the pwoor widdle kwiddies. TNR addicts need to get their selfish, destructive egos under control and stop trying to saturate the world with their favorite drug.

This is funny. My cat actually doesn't have an official name. The kids downstairs called her Estrella but I didn't like that name. I started calling her Miss Stinky Pants and now I just call her Bum. 😅

Okay I've been DMing people on different platforms and I need some advice. I live in the midwest and we've had a lot of storms/flooding in the past month, and 2 weeks ago I saved 6 babies from a flooded storm drain where mom had the nest. They were basically swimming in the ditch at 3am crying, trying to get up the embankment! I haven't seen the mom in weeks so I'm assuming she didn't make it! I was keeping them safe in my shed and making sure they're fed and okay. 3 nights ago I came home from work and 2 if the 6 babies were gone. I ended up finding them both dead in other places around the house and assumed they were killed by another animal! It was completely TRAUMATIZING! So I brought the other babies inside BUT I can't keep them! I'm only allowed 2 pets and I'm at capacity! I called Humane Society and they cant take them because they are also at capacity! What do I do? Do I put them outside and let them die? Because that's what I was told to do....put them back and hope for the best! I can't stop crying thinking about everything that happened and I don't want the babies to die. I need some help

Don't get a cat if you can't take responsibility for it. There are legitimate excuses, but also a sea of bad ones. So, if in doubt, don't get a cat!

So, I bought the Loaf food for our Dogs... working out well. And I picked up this Pate' stuff for our cat... But I'm concerned it's close to 1000 calories (over 900) per dish. Our cat is about 14 lbs and doesn't need that much food. I've never fed him wet food before. Does it need refrigeration if we give him 1/3rd at a time?
